Autumn - Creative Curriculum

  • Autumn – Creative Curriculum

We start our year 5 experience with focusing on our locality. We walk to the local library and research our wonderful town. From here we look at how Winsford has changed over time and how it continues to develop as a town. By using maps, we make links between our town from the past and the present in terms of housing and society. We learn all about the history of the salt mines and imagine what life would have been like as a salt mine worker.

We have lift-off . . . Space is our science theme during the second part of Autumn Term. We look at our solar system, learning all about the planets and moons, as well as the phases of the moon and night and day.. We create a model solar system and focus on a chosen planet to research and present on. We also have the exciting opportunity to visit the Worlds Museum in Liverpool! During this trip we will get to experience a hands-on workshop in their planetarium which will explore how astronauts survive in space as well as the possibility of the existence of alien life.
