Swimming at Over Hall
Safety in and around water
Pupils should leave primary school able to swim 25m unaided and be knowledgeable and safe around water and to do this, each child should spend about 25 hours learning to swim.
At Over Hall we are proud to say that we continue to offer swimming lessons to all children in Year 4, (previously Year 3 up to 2020-2021), providing at least two terms of weekly lessons that last one hour per session. This enables more time in the water on a weekly basis and ensuring at least a water confidence at an early age of 7 or 8.
Further to this we provide a term of swimming tuition to children in Key Stage Two who did not meet National Curriculum requirements at their last assessment.
Outcomes
Parents receive an update of their child's progress in the termly Consultation Evening and end of year report. Certificates and rewards through the year as their child makes progress. As a school we also encourage external awards to be celebrated.
