Autumn - Creative Curriculum

In Autumn we learn about our local area. We study the geography of Winsford, the physical and human features in and around Winsford, the services provided in our local town and the materials that are sourced here. We will also visit one of these services - the local library. We will also look at how our town has changed over long periods of time using different maps and technology. We then compared how we live today with how people lived in the 1800 and 1900s, particularly relating to the mining and extraction of salt in the local area. We will visit the Lion Salt Works as part of this learning process.

Our work is supplemented in English using high quality texts about rocks, minerals and metals. We will write about the Iron Man within a threat narrative. In DT we will use leavers and linkages to create our very own moving Iron Man!

In Science we learn about forces and magnetism and will make a magnetic game linked to these ideas. We will also participate in a camp day where we will get to complete all things outdoors, including den building and team games.
